Sonnhild Gädeke-Mothes and Aurel Mothes

Artistic Direction

Sonnhild Gädeke-Mothes and Aurel Mothes have known each other since their joint studies with Else Klink at the Eurythmeum Stuttgart. Already during their student years, they had planned to work together.
Both were members of the Else Klink Ensemble at the Eurythmeum Stuttgart for many years. Major tours took them to the U.S.A., Russia, Siberia, and across Europe. At the same time, they were active in training and offered advanced courses. This was followed by intensive, independent project work with artists from various fields: eurythmy in dialogue with painting, drama, and music.
This resulted, among others, in the program »Kaspar – He Truly Loved the Sun«, various programs on modern poetry, »On Impermanence« with harpist Prof. Giselle Herbert, and much more.
Parallel to their artistic stage work, both were active in the educational field. In the past twenty years, they have realized large symphonic youth eurythmy projects with various orchestras; to name just a few: »Hebrides Overture« (Mendelssohn), »Unfinished Symphony« (Schubert), Peer Gynt (Ibsen/Grieg), Piano Concerto No. 5 (Mozart), Symphony No. 5 (Beethoven), Egmont Overture (Beethoven), Cello Concerto in C major (Haydn), Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin), Ballet and Jazz Suites (Prokofiev), Danzón No. 2 (A. Márquez), works from »The Art of Fugue« (Bach), accompanied by the Vogler Quartet, and many more.

Sonnhild Gädeke-Mothes and Aurel Mothes are founding members of the artistic team of »What moves you« (2012, Berlin). Since 2013, they have been serving as board members of the association yep! young eurythmy performance. For both, eurythmy – especially youth eurythmy – is a lifelong commitment.
